Rafiabad, Oct 20 (KNO): The Executive Officer (EO) of the Municipal Committee Watergam has refuted a “misleading report on abolishing Watergam Municipal Committee’ circulated on a few Facebook pages, saying it has caused confusion among the people. Labelling the news as “false” and “groundless”, Executive Officer Farhana Shaukat assured that strict measures would be taken against those responsible for spreading “fictitious” information about the committee. She urged the public to disregard “rumours” and cooperate with the municipal committee to enhance the cleanliness and orderliness of Watergam town. Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Farhana said there are a few disruptive individuals who aim to incite chaos among the people. But their efforts would not succeed, she said. Shaukat clarified that the report titled "Abolition of Watergam Municipal Committee" that was disseminated on some Facebook pages is “entirely devoid of credibility”. There has been no official communication from the directorate to support such a claim, she said. The officer appealed to the people to cooperate with the municipal committee to maintain the cleanliness of Watergam town and to achieve the goal of a litter-free environment. She cautioned the public against paying heed to the “misinformation spread by rumourmongers”. Farhana also said that the committee will take rigorous action against individuals involved in propagating “false” news items on social media platforms, particularly Facebook—(KNO)
